Christmas layout

Today's post comes from a monthly class that I give to a group of senior high school girls.  They have to have a certain amount of creative hours every 9 weeks or something of that nature.  So, since it's their senior year, I asked if they'd like to scrapbook it and earn those hours at the same time.  There are 4 girls.  We work on 6 books every month.  The one I work on is for a gift for a friends daughter for next year.  The other girls work on their own plus one of them is doing one for her boyfriend.  We have to tone down the bling in his just a little but for the most part it works.

I'm actually very fond of this layout.  I think I may use it for my own book too!

Supplies used:  v-237 scarlet cardstock (this is my all time favorite red), v-233 dark green cardstock, t-2804 fancy curls

Senior girls!

Currently, I'm doing a monthly scrapbooking class with a group of girls who are seniors this year. This layout is what we used for their senior picture or first day of school this year. The great part about this class is these girls get creative class credits for the time that we work on these. So, it's a win - win for them!! I enjoy being surrounded by girls for a change. Don't get me wrong - I love my boys but sometimes the smells that emanate from them are nearly unbearable. LOL!!!

You've probably already guessed but the picture should be placed in the big, scarlet, rectangle. All products are from TAC except the word senior I printed on my computer and the letters are cut out with the cricut. The card stock colors are black, white and scarlet. TAC is the only place that I can find my favorite color of red. The dp I made using the linear sentiments stamp set.

Felt coasters

I've been looking for these coasters every since Barb mentioned them on her blog.

I finally ran across them at Michael's not to long ago. To get more ideas for using them, I challenged my hostess club gals to each make something with a different one. There are 4 different coasters. Yellow, green, purple and pink are the colors. The pink and purple are the same but the green and yellow are completely different from the rest.

I used the green one on the scrapbook page - I just cut the middle out of it and used it for a frame.

The yellow I used 2 tiny flowers and covered a stamped flower instead of coloring it.

The pink I used on a card that I had made for the card class a last week with a few slight modifications.

Then I was brain dead and had my friend Tracy come up with the final card. She used both the pink and purple and really sparkled it up.

Jumpin for JOY

Well, my father flew home to Indiana today. We had a great visit. At least in the beginning and the end of the trip, in the middle he wasn't feeling well. That's a story for another day though!

During his trip, we took him to the Jetty Park in Fort Pierce. He likes to look around and take in the scenery. My boys being the busy kids that they are, are not very patient. And so, they found some other entertainment. These are the snapshots that I got of them entertaining themselves. It really was quite a sight.

I ended up using the layout for our hostess club meeting this month.

OMG.....

I've just heard the news and I thought I should share it with all of you. TAC is having a huge sale. I've been with the company for 6 years and don't remember this ever happening before. Now, that doesn't mean that it hasn't happened. It just means that I don't remember it. For the exciting news, from January 6-26, ALL t coded stamps in our fall/winter catalogue are 1/2 price, 50% off. Holy Toledo!!! I will apologize now for anyone who gets a double reminder about this event from me. I can't hardly contain my excitement. There is no limit on this sale!!! I can hardly believe my eyes instead of ears (since I'm reading the info.)


On to my promised card and scrapbook postings, the following were made for my pal Roni's sister. You see, she wanted to get her something to inspire her craftiness and her sister also likes frogs. So, she decided on the hoppy everything set. This is what I came up with for the card. It's kind of cute and her sister is a newlywed. I guess it sort of fits.



Everything came from TAC except for the border punch. I believe the ink colors were belle rose and landscape. Both were palette inks. The printed paper came from the toodle loo collection and the cardstock is one of the pink dcwv collection. I used Barb's wonderful colorization technique. I also used mounting tape to raise the frogs. Then I doubled the mounting tape for the heart so that it sticks out even farther. Inside, it says 'toadally in love'.

Now, the scrapbook page isn't my favorite. However, I'm not that in love with frogs. So, I'm thinking that is the reason for my hang up with the page.



The only thing not TAC here is the mustard and green paper. It is bazzill. Again, I used the hoppy everything set with the noir palette ink. The blue cardstock is from the dcwv collection. Finally, the printed paper is from the hip hop collection. It is suppose to look like lily pads. I may have covered to much of it. Now, that I'm looking at it differently, I can see where I should have added more of it. Possibly under the green frogs. What do you think? I only glued the green strip along the edges so that the picture could be slid underneath. I also thought that you could either journal or put a title across the green strip.

Card to crop

I nearly forgot that I had these to show you. I entered this in a card to crop contest. When you join TAC, you are eligible to compete in monthly contests for a chance to win $75 worth of free stamps. I think that TAC is specTACular (thanks Heather Scott love the way you spell this word). I'm pretty sure that I entered this one in the November contest. I can't be sure. Anyway, I know that it didn't win for November.



Above you see the card portion of the contest. The diamond shaped design is actually what was leftover from my June calendar. It was one of my first posts. You can see it by checking out the blog archive.



Here you see the crop portion. This is a favorite picture of mine. My boys generally fight constantly. So, when I see them together like this, my heart melts. Those are the days that remind you it is all worth it. This is a picture of our first trip out on the open ocean. I have to tell you that I'm not much for open water. I love the river but out where I can't see dry land. UGH! Can you say Dramamine?



Finally, here you see both projects together. I was rather fond of these and disappointed that they didn't win. What can you do?! I'm really not sure what the judging criteria is. It's not really important. I keep entering every month. I'm going to have to get busy for the next contest.

I hope your Wednesday was wonderful because mine certainly wasn't. Sick kids are just wearing me out. I'm hoping that the visit to the ENT on December 2 will make a huge improvement in the health of this household. I'm taking steps here. I can't wait until December though.

Forever Friends

I'm sitting here looking at my calendar for next week. It doesn't look busy enough. I think I'm missing something. If you know what it is, please email me and tell me. I just know I'm forgetting something. You can see my calendar at the side. It's probably just because last week was soooo hectic but just in case I thought I'd ask for your help.

The title of my page is forever friends. There is a story behind that. Once, Roni and I were discussing friendships past. She told me that she was destined to only have friends for a season. There's more to that saying but for the life of me I can't recall it. Before I go off on one of my tangents, I decided that Roni and I would never be friends for only a season. Though initially it probably looked that way to both of us. So, that's what's up with the title. I'm glad to know that no matter what one of us will always find the time to call the other at least once a week. (I guess unless life gets in the way.) (But then it's really fun to catch up on what we missed.) LOL!

So, anyway this is what I worked on Friday night at my paper crafting potluck. Not much of a potluck at all, more like a pizza party. Probably more fun. We should do it more often. I'd like to figure out a rotating schedule with you girls. We'll have to work on that one.

Progressive Scrapbooking

What an insane day! I've seriously got to remember not to over extend myself. I started out at the volunteer orientation meeting at the boys school. It lasted waaay to long. Then off to the hostess club meeting. YIPPEE!! Pick the boys up from school. Then off to get hair cuts - school pictures are Monday. Out to dinner - Chad's out of town (no sense dirtying the kitchen)LOL! Then to Target to pick up pictures through shutterfly. They weren't even there and I put them in last night!!! That stinks and I had to wait forever because they thought they could figure it out! NOT, I had to resend them. Argh!!! Now, I have to get a 2 page spread ready for the paper crafting potluck tomorrow night. I have to clean house. Then, I have to figure out what my October party booking special is going to be. BOY OH BOY!

So, to the fun part of this post! What is progressive scrapbooking? We did it today at the hostess club meeting! I think everyone enjoyed it. At least, I hope so. We started out with an 8 x 8 page, then graduated up to a 8 1/2 x 11 and from there to 12 x 12. That gives you great ways to please any type of scrapbooker!!(Is that a word?)

Before you see these, you need to know something about me. I love to take pictures. If I see something that catches my eye, I'm going to mess with it until I can get something original out of it. So, be prepared!

It is really hard to see some of the details. Just little things that make the whole page really POP! What can you do? I have to say it was tons of fun and a learning experience. My little Mark really indulges my craziness when it comes to pictures. I ask and he says sure mom no problem. So, those are his little feet. Then there are my prints, his inside of mine in the middle and finally his prints. Kind of cool! You'll have to see the pictures in person because they can play tricks on your eyes!!!!

1st SCRAPBOOK LAYOUT

Remember yesterday, no, no, not the song. I was telling you about shutterfly. Below, you will see an example of what I was talking about. This is a 4 x 6 print. Of course, it probably would have helped if I had rotated the 2 little photos. Then you could really see what I mean. Well, there you have it. I'll show you more sometime after the 18th. I can't give away what we are doing in the hostess club. The girls may get upset with me for doing that!!LOL



So, this is a 2 page spread. It is 8 x 8. Pretty simple! I'm really not into doing elaborate pages. I'm hoping that this will inspire Monica to start scrapbooking again. I KNOW she misses it. She will be receiving it via USPS sometime later this week, along with some money I owe her and a birthday card for Jada. :) And I just know that everyone else wanted to know all my personal business. He!he! The patterned paper is whimsy blossoms (retired) from TAC. The journal stamp is part of just a note t - 2820. I'm pretty sure the card stock came from Michael's. I'm thinking of adding some embellishments. I just haven't found exactly the right thing YET! I'll take an updated picture when I do. The letters came from my cricut. The Jasmine cartridge (I think). I've got so many I can't remember all of them. (Shame on me!) Also, the journal areas are pop dotted (well not yet because Monica wouldn't be able to write on them) but that's what I had in mind.
